Why Clean your Gutters and Downspouts?
All gutters, elbows, and downspouts/leaders are cleaned by hand.
This is done to assure that your elbows and downspouts/leaders are clean and flowing. We will keep debris away from the siding and windows of your house.
The debris removed from the gutters is bagged and disposed of at the edge of your property, away from your house.
As part of our clean out service, we will make some small repairs such as: tighten loose screws, reconnect elbows, or add screws where needed. If the repairs are more extensive, you will be contacted and advised of the additional work needed to your house.
Important Gutter Cleaning Information
Feedback from our customers: The lawn guy, handyman, landscaper did not clean out my gutters correctly.
Clogged rain gutters have many damaging effects on your home. Even a handful of debris will cause your gutter system to fail. Water will spill over the front of the gutter and wash away decorative landscaping, rot wood around windows and doors, stain siding and cause cracks in your foundation. The deterioration of your fascia wood and roof edge accelerates as rainfall spills behind clogged gutters. To avoid these damaging effects your gutters must remain free of debris year round. Don't risk the safety of loved ones and waste countless hours trying to keep up with this dangerous chore. I can clean your gutters as often as needed, or install our Clean and Screen gutter protection system for a permanent solution. Why Gutter Cleaning is Important
Clean gutters are a very important factor in avoiding major and expensive home repairs.
Gutters are designed to perform a single duty: control the movement of water around
your home. If debris is clogging your gutters, causing them to fail at their sole purpose,
then some serious problems can arise:
•Bug Breeding Grounds: Gutters that are neglected can have standing water in them;
this is the perfect breeding grounds for mosquito larva and other insects.
•Leaking Basement: Gutters that are clogged can easily overflow; causing the water
running off the roof to collect in a single place , accumulating quickly around the
foundation. When this happens, basement walls can easily begin to leak and crack.
•Rotting Wood: When water backs up, it either flows over the face of the gutter or
behind the gutter. This water will eventually lead to damaged facia boards and possibly
rotting roof sheeting. The rotten areas will only get worse until the gutters are cleaned.
•Slippery and Cracked Sidewalks and Driveways: When the water overflows the gutter, it
can accumulate on walk ways and driveways where it can freeze and cause slipping
hazards. Overflowing water can also accelerate the wear and tear of your concrete and
asphalt surfaces, potentially causing these surfaces to crack and sag.
•Landscaping: Any water overflowing a gutter can quickly cause severe erosion and
possibly kill newly planted grass, trees or vegetation.
The weight of a gutter full of water has the ability to destroy the pitch of the gutter
causing it to either pour over the face or the back of the gutter, possibly causing some or
all of the problems listed above. If gutters must be removed to fix rotting facia boards or
roof lines, or the pitch of the gutter is ruined by the prolonged weight of the filled gutter,
the only remedy is to replace the gutter system, sometimes years before they should need
to be replaced.
Importance of Gutter Cleaning
The effects of clogged gutters costs millions of dollars each year in water damage, basement flooding and foundation erosion, not to mention that they are a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, termites and mold.
Gutter cleaning is an ongoing and very important home maintenance task that should not be ignored until the fall season. Most home experts recommend that you clean your gutters three to four times each year (spring, summer, early and late fall).
All deciduous trees produce organic litter in the form of buds, flowers, seeds, small bits of bark, twigs and leaves on a never-ending annual cycle. Evergreens are just as bad as they shed needles and other bits of debris throughout the year. In addition, after each rainstorm, asphalt from roof shingles runs off into your gutters, inevitably causing them to clog.
